The Cat Goes... BONK!

Sometimes I want to

Just play with my cat.

Rub his cute head

And give it a pat.

Scratch his cheeks

And BOOP his nose.

And dress him up

In pretty bows.

Tickle his tummy

And tussle his fur.

And do all the things

That make him PURR!

But, sometimes he just

Doesn’t want to play.

And he looks at me

And walks away.

And then I don’t see him

For the rest of the day…

But… when the cat WANTS something…

The cat goes… BONK!

Sometimes my cat

Will simply ignore me.

And just not want to do

Anything for me.

I offer him toys

And offer him treats.

And all of the things

That he likes to eat.

I try to call him with,

“Pss! Pss! Pss! Pss!”

And promise him

A great big kiss!

But, sometimes he just

Doesn’t want to play.

And he looks at me

And walks away.

And then I don’t see him

For the rest of the day…

But… when the cat WANTS something…

The cat goes… BONK!

Sometimes at night

When I’m deeply sleeping

I get the feeling

Of something creeping.

Of little feet

Upon the bed

Walking right up

To my head.

Then jumping up

Onto my chest

And deciding that’s

The place to rest…

And then, right there

Is where he’ll stay.

And he won’t move

Or go away.

Until the night

Turns into day.

Then, when the cat wants something…

The cat goes… BONK!

He’ll look at me

With those big eyes.

Then his purring

Will start to rise.

He’ll walk around me

All over the bed.

And try to push me

With his head.

He’ll purr and meow

And be just so loving.

And continue on with the

Pushing and shoving.

Then when I finally

Get out of bed,

He’ll walk beside me

Bonking his head

On my legs as I walk

Because, as I’ve said…

When the cat wants something…

The cat goes… BONK!

He’ll bonk the cupboard

As I get his food.

He’ll bonk the floor

In his happy mood.

He’ll then give me

A great, big, “MEOW!”

(Which, usually, sounds

More like, “NOW!”)

Then, he’ll bonk my hand

As I put down his dish

And arch his back

And his tail will swish.

He’ll eat his food

Then walk away

And I won’t see him

Until later that day

Because it’s like

I always say…

When the cat wants something…

The cat goes… BONK!
